RealmWright ("we", "us", "our") operates the world-building platform at realmwright.app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

Account information: Email address and password when you sign up, or profile information from Google if you use OAuth sign-in.
World content: All worlds, entities (characters, locations, factions, events, eras, articles), relationships, map images, entity descriptions, temporal data, and metadata you create within the platform.
Support communications: Any messages you send to us via email.

Information collected automatically

Usage data: Pages visited, features used, entities created, and interactions with the map, graph, and timeline surfaces. This data is collected via PostHog analytics.
Device information: Browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and language preference.
Log data: IP address, access times, and referring URLs, collected by our hosting provider.

2. How We Use Your Information

Providing the Service: Storing and displaying your worlds, entities, maps, and relationships. Processing your requests through all four surfaces (map, graph, timeline, entity pages).
Product improvement: Analysing aggregate usage patterns to understand which features are most valuable and where the experience can be improved.
Communication: Responding to support requests and sending service-related notifications (e.g., terms changes, security alerts).
Security: Detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, and unauthorised access to accounts.

3. Third-Party Services

We use third-party services to operate RealmWright. Each processes data under its own privacy policy. The categories of services we use include:

Database & Authentication

Your world data, account information, and uploaded map images are stored in a managed cloud database. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Authentication is handled by a dedicated identity service.

Hosting & Infrastructure

The application is hosted on a cloud platform that processes HTTP requests and may collect IP addresses and access logs as part of infrastructure operation.

Product Analytics

We track anonymous usage events (e.g., worlds created, entities added, features used) to improve the product. Our analytics provider does not receive your world content — only interaction events.

4. Cookies & Local Storage

RealmWright uses cookies and browser local storage for:

Authentication: Session cookies to keep you signed in.
Analytics: Our analytics provider uses cookies to track anonymous usage sessions. These do not contain personal information.
UI preferences: Local storage may be used to persist UI state such as panel positions, graph layout preferences, and timeline settings.

We do not use advertising cookies or share cookie data with advertising networks.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data as follows:

Account data: Retained for as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion request.
World content: Retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete a world, its data is permanently removed.
Analytics data: Aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely in anonymised form.
Server logs: Infrastructure logs are retained for up to 30 days.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data and account.
Export: Request a portable copy of your world data (available when export functionality is released).
Objection: Object to processing of your personal data for certain purposes.
Restriction: Request restriction of processing in certain circumstances.

7. Children's Privacy

RealmWright is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. 8. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed and stored in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using RealmWright, you consent to the transfer of your data to these locations. We ensure that all third-party providers maintain appropriate data protection standards.

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest, row-level security policies in our database, and secure authentication flows. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
